Puppy Basics Puppy Basics is for pups between 10 and 20 weeks of age as of the class start date and have had their first set of vaccinations. If your pup is older, please register them for Great Beginnings. Puppy Basics class is a great way to build confidence, for you and your pup, while learning foundational skills. This is the time, while your pup is very young, to do a lot of foundation work so that they develop good habits. We’ll show you some fun exercises to do with your pup to build a positive and trusting relationship. Puppy Basics helps your puppy learn and understand words such as sit, down, and stand. We start the foundation work for walking nicely on leash, coming when called, impulse control, calmness, boundary work and disengagement from distractions. Information on surviving puppyhood, such as: nipping, whining, barking, and toileting is included. You will also receive our Puppy Training Videos which include the exercises that are taught each week in class. If your goal is for your dog to achieve their Canine Good Neighbour or Dog Therapy Certificate, or to participate in Rally Obedience, Level Up is your next step. It will prepare both you and your dog for the more vigorous exercises and challenges covered in our Life Skills program.
