Dogs between 5 months and 2 years are in their adolescent stage. This is when new & often times undesirable behaviours develop, much like human adolescents! They may start to ignore you, not listen, pull when out on walks, or act like you don't exist- especially in the presence of exciting distractions like squirrels, blowing leaves or other dogs! This program is also perfect for rescues of any age as it will help them adjust to their new life. Dogs that have never attended a group class may do great at home, but when they're out in the environment, often don't behave as well. Great Beginnings works on behaviours such as impulse control, calmness, disengagement from the environment, engagement with you, proximity (hanging out with you), focus, working in arousal (when they're excited or scared), being able to bring their arousal level down, and much more. This course utilizes games-based concept training, which reshapes your dog's brain, so they learn to make better decisions. The exercises are fun and adaptable to the individual dog. We also share with you the science behind how and why the exercises work to produce real-life results. After Great Beginnings you can move onto Level Up, Scent Level 1, or Tricks Level 1. PLEASE BE SURE TO SELECT THE CORRECT LOCATION. Click on the column titled LOCATION to sort the classes by location. If you Select a class that is marked CLASS FULL, you will be put on a wait list.
